What is an ERN?
An ERN or ERA, also called an Electronic Remittance Notice/Advice, is a file sent by payers which replicates the data from the paper EOMB. The primary purpose for Providers to download these ERN files is to “Auto-Post” cash (as opposed to manually entering checks).
However, the ERN can and should be used for MUCH more in the reimbursement process. For instance, with RemitDATA’s Reimbursement Pro, the ERN can be used to recreate patient-specific EOBs on demand.
